I started working from home over 15 years ago when I was just 16 years old. So here are some tips to work from home for you.

At the age of 16, I started working from home.
I wanted to work to have my own money and stop relying on my parents for pocket money, so I started looking for online jobs that could do it from home. At the time, there were no smartphones, but I was fortunate enough to have a computer and internet at home.
Nothing could stop me.
After all these years of experience, I know I can help you!
Keep reading to find all my top tips to work from home.
The Challenges of Working From Home
Working from home can be very challenging, especially if you have children or live with other people.
There are so many things to distract you at home and no one to supervise you.
If you’re not careful, your phone can completely kill your productivity. Unless you need to make and receive calls, switch off your phone or activate the silence mode.
TIP #1
Switch off your phone, or at least activate the silence mode and stop all the unnecessary notifications.
Notifications are the worst!
I now have silenced over 90% of the notifications on my phone.
Unless you learn how to be disciplined, you’ll definitely struggle to get things done.
The good news is that is it not impossible. With a little bit of guidance, you’ll strive and learn how to get things done.
Do you have children? If you do, getting things done while working from home is even more difficult. Children need our attention at all times. I’d go even further and say that children are like having a second job.
Once you’re all set up and ready to go, working from home can in fact be very rewarding and satisfying.
TIP #2
Start your day early, just like you’d do if you had a normal job.
So how do you stay productive?
Not easy, but super important!
Not starting your day early enough will lead you to laziness. Your brain needs to understand and believe that you have to get to it. If you start your day like it’s a Sunday, you’ll probably only tick half of your to-do list.
Instead, get up, get dressed, have breakfast and go to work.
Do whatever you need to set up your day for success.
TIP #3
Get yourself a working space where you can concentrate and get things done.
Many people that work from home make the mistake of not having a working space. It’s a disaster. You really need to find that sweet spot that will allow you to do work without too many distractions. That way, you know when it’s time to work and when it’s time to relax or get into family mode.
TIP #4
Remember to stop working.
Guilty here!
The form you have selected does not exist.
Home shouldn’t feel like your workplace.
It’s hard to stop working when you do it from home. Maybe because after a while, home feels like being at work, but you need to learn how to separate time for work and time for family.
It happens for me all the time. It’s late at night and I remember something that I should have done it earlier on the day. My first instinct is to go and do it, but then I remember that I’m not at work anymore. Sometimes, I don’t remember, and I go and do it anyway. Anna, my partner doesn’t like it when I do that.
TIP #5
Set goals and use a diary.
Again, unless you’re organised, you’ll just keep working without really knowing what you’re doing.
So let’s say you’re a blogger too. Write in your diary the top 3 things you need to do before the end of the day. Get those sorted first, and use the rest of your day to work on the pending stuff that wasn’t in your diary.
What just happened here? You got 3 important goals achieved, in one day.
Important. Pay attention.
If you run your own business, this is probably the most important tip.
TIP #6
Understand what is important and what is not.
What is it that you can do today to help your business grow?
Surely a lot of what you’re doing isn’t taking you anywhere. Replying to customers enquiries? Someone less knowledgeable could do that. Delegate it. Creating Facebook posts? My son can do that, and he is only 7 years old. Delegate it.
My point is, if you’re running your own business you need to spend your time on stuff that will actually grow your business. Understand what is important and do that first. Staying busy just for the sake of being busy will not increase your revenue by 200% in the next financial year.
The reason I started writing this article was to give you tips to work from home, so really pay attention to the next one.
All of the above takes me to the last tip today.
TIP #7
Delegate or refuse to do anything too easy or too hard for you.
If you’re running your own business, delegate as many tasks as possible to your subordinates. Learn how to work less while having more things done.
I totally recommend you read “The 4-Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferriss.
