What’s with the gender titles in the UK? Why do women have to disclose their relationship status in every legal form? Isn’t that gender discrimination?
As some of you know I work in the finance and property industry and something caught my attention.
When men fill applications forms, usually their title is Mr.
What about women?
Mrs – Married women.
Miss – Single women.
Why does women have to disclose their relationship status? It doesn’t seem fair to me. What about GDPR? In the last couple of years all organisations and governments have gone crazy with GDPR regulations. Don’t you agree that sharing your relationship status is in a way unprotected data?
I did a bit of research and found out 2 interesting facts.
Ms – Up until now I always thought that Ms is that title that only divorced women use. I was wrong. Ms is actually the equivalent to Mr – it can be used for all women despite their relationship status.
Mx – What about this one? I have never seen it before but apparently is a new generation title that can be used by anyone, both men and women.
